Homebirth & Midwifery Care

  • Prenatal Care is tailored to your particular needs. Visits are at least one hour long, most of the time spent talking about what your dreams, fears, and aspirations are for the upcoming birth and motherhood, nutrition, breastfeeding, and optimal health, with about 15 minutes focusing on clinical tasks such as getting your belly measurements, listening to the baby’s heartbeat, assessing the position; getting your weight, blood pressure, pulse, and urine sample.  Physical and breast exams are included as well, and Pap smears can also be done in a safe and nurturing way.  We meet monthly until 28 weeks, then every other week until 36 weeks, with weekly visits until the birth.  I am available by phone if anything comes up in between visits and am on-call 24/7 from 37 weeks until 42 weeks.  This service is standard for homebirth midwifery clients and can be available for those seeking hospital births.
  • Homebirth/ Water Birth continues to be a good option for healthy moms with normal pregnancies.  By the time your birth unfolds, we’ve had a chance to get to know each other and feel comfortable.  You’ve met my birth assistant and/or apprentice and I’ve had a chance to visit your home and meet anyone else who you will include in this special celebration.
  • Lab services are available both through private insurance and discounted prices if paying out-of-pocket.
  • Postpartum Care is a unique service many families cherish.  I come to check on you several times during the first week and am available with any information/education and breastfeeding support.  Visits continue regularly through 6-weeks postpartum when we close our care officially.
